Dave retired in 2019 from his role as a relationship manager for Sport New Zealand, and has had a long involvement in sport and recreation, initially as a cricketer and secondary school teacher and coach. Later, he moved into leadership roles as CEO Harbour Sport, Manager Regional Services for the Hillary Commission and CEO of Squash New Zealand. During this time he also served in governance roles on the Boards of Equestrian New Zealand, North Harbour Stadium Trust and North Harbour Netball Trust.
After a period where he operated as a freelance consultant, Dave returned to sports management at Sport NZ and remains especially interested in how investors support volunteer organisations at community level.
