Worn thin from years of use, Manfeild Stadium’s indoor turf is to be replaced thanks to a $34,500 grant from New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT).
Manfeild Park Trust CEO Kathy Gibson explains, "Our artificial turf had seen better days after over a decade of service. It was time for a new beginning. With the support of NZCT we’ve been able to purchase a fantastic new turf which will be ready for client use from late March.
The park’s existing turf has been used for a wide range of purposes from rugby training sessions to hosting many community events. The new turf will continue to offer similar opportunities for the next decade.
The turf renewal will further enhance Manfeild Park’s claim to be the premier destination for sports and entertainment in the Manawatu and beyond.
NZCT’s GM for Grants, Marketing and Communications, Ben Hodges adds "The wide variety of sports and events hosted at Manfeild Park makes this facility an enviable asset for Feilding and the wider region. NZCT is delighted our fundraising partnership with the Empire Hotel, Drovers Bar and Kitchen, and the Feilding Hotel made our grant possible.”
