WYNRS SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Awesome NZCT soccer tournament

The NZCT WYNRS National Tournament 2009 took place on 13-14 September at Waikaraka Park, Auckland.  The soccer tournament, the brainchild of All Whites legend Wynton Rufer, is in its eighth year and is growing from strength to strength.  The aim is to encourage and develop young people to play soccer and develop their ball skills.

With more than 100 young soccer players competing in individual and team events, the standard of play and sportsmanship was very high.

NZCT Northern Regional Manager, David Stones, says the trust was delighted to be able to support the event and pleased so many aspiring players were able to participate.

“NZCT is the biggest funder of amateur sport in New Zealand,” says Mr Stones.  “Sport is what we’re all about – and seeing kids having a go and succeeding is just fantastic.  Well done to everyone who competed – and to Wynton and his team for organising such a great tournament.”
