GAMBLING POLICY SUBMISSIONS TO COUNCILS
Submissions made to local councils
New Zealand has 12 regional councils and 73 territorial authorities and each one has a different policy about the number and location of gaming machines in their community. At least once every three years, the policies are reviewed and councils invite interested parties to make submissions on the policy.
We believe it is important councillors receive balanced, accurate information about gaming machines. While we recognise some people suffer from gambling addiction, NZCT strongly advocates gaming machines as a valid form of entertainment for the majority of players. We also recognise and appreciate that gaming is a business for our publicans and the revenue it generates is an important source of community funding.
NZCT has recently prepared submissions for Wellington City Council, New Plymouth District Council, Hutt City Council , Matamata-Piako District Council , Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council, Hamilton City Council and South Taranaki District Council. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our submissions.
